      Sending Recognition from Slack

      Slack integration allows for recognition to be created and sent within the Slack App. The integration works both ways, in which recognition sent in either Slack or Connects will populate in the other software (including sending/receiving points).

      How It Works

      1. User logins into Slack, navigates to “Apps” section on left hand side, and clicks Inspirus Connects

      2. From the Inspirus Connects app page, the User will be able to see:

        1. their Current Point Balance

        2. Points Available to Award Others.

        3. Send Recognition Button

        4. Connects Home Page Button (to go to Connects software)

      3. User Clicks “Send Recognition” (and sees the same menu as they would see in the Connects software)

        1. Choose the Program

        2. Choose the Recipients

        3. Type a Message

        4. Add Copied Users (optional)

        5. Make the Message Private (optional; currently does not post the message in the channel)

        6. Choose Image

        7. Send Recognition

      4. The message will be posted on the public slack channel as well as the Connects App

      In addition, Users are able to post recognition using Slack’s innate commands functionality. Type /connects to quickly pull up the Send Recognition menu.

      FAQs

      • Can I send recognition from Slack?

        • Yes! the Connects Slack application will allow a Slack user to send recognition. Just like in the Connects application the user has the same options when sending recognition.

      • If I like and comment on recognition in Slack, will it generate in Connects?

        • The ability to “Like” or “Comment” is coming soon.

      • Does recognition posted in Slack tag the recipient?

        • User will receive an “In-app” and email notification.

      • If the recipient is not in Slack, what happens?

        • The recognition will still process, as long as they are a user in Connects.

      • What channel can it be connected to?

        • Any public channel. Currently, Connects cannot connect to private slack channels.

      • Does a user have to setup the App?

        • The Slack App administrator will need to set up the app themselves. Following this, no other users will need to setup the app via Slack. It will be there for new and existing users when logging in.

      • Are admins able to delete messages?

        • Messages can be deleted in Slack and/or Connects, however, that message will still appear on the other application. For example, if an employee recognizes their team in either app, then deletes that message in Connects, Slack will still show the message.
